Frequently Asked Questions

DDrivers

LAW – Introduction

Impaired driving, which means driving while your ability is affected by alcohol or drugs, is a crime under the Criminal Code of Canada. If convicted, you can lose your license, be fined, or spend time in jail. Your vehicle does not even have to be moving; you can be charged if you are impaired behind the wheel, even if you have not started to drive.

Drinking & Driving

Drinking and driving is a deadly combination. One drink can reduce your ability to concentrate and react to things that happen suddenly while you are driving. The more alcohol in your blood, the more difficulty you have judging distances and reacting to sudden hazards on the road. To make matters even worse, your vision may become blurred.

Consequences

Roadside Licence Suspension
Fully-licensed drivers will face immediate roadside license suspension for:
refusing a breath test
registering a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.05 or more (this means there is 50 milligrams of alcohol in every 100 milliliters of blood)

How do you calculate the price?

The shadow car (the one following) clears the odometer on their car.  This will record the km’s traveled. It’s $35.00 for the first km and $1.50 for every km after that.

Can anyone go in the shadow car. (The driver's ride)?

Sorry, no can do.  Moncton has bylaws and legislation prohibiting this.  We are also not insured to transport customers in our personal vehicles.

What areas do you service?

We are based in the Greater Moncton Area.  We will take you just about anywhere as long as you pay $1.50 per km additional after the flat rate.

How far will you go?

As far as you want really.  Common destinations are Dieppe, Moncton, and Riverview.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Debit, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and Gift card.

Can I bring my dogs (pets)?

Absolutely.  We just ask that you keep them from distracting our driver.

Can I bring my friends?

Yes of course. If there is a seat belt for everyone in the vehicle including the driver.

Can we make stops during the trip?

No problem.  We can drop off friends and family or stop for conveniences on your way home.  While stopped we charge $1.00/minute

Will you take my car without me?

  1. Sure will.  Pre-payment for the trip will be required.

Are you hiring?

Nightlife Valet is always looking for a few good men and women to add to the team. If you meet the requirements and would be interested in driving for us, don’t hesitate to contact us. Through December and up into New Years we tend to hire more.

Who are your drivers?

Our drivers are fully licensed and insured, males and females of 25 years of age or older with clean drivers abstracts. They are professional and courteous individuals, whose sole purpose is to ensure you and your vehicle get home safely.

Do people use this service when their children are with them?

All the time!  Those still in the car seat stage really enjoy the ease of having their vehicle.  A wonderful example at a young age for children to experience responsible for drinking.

If Convicted

Under the Motor Vehicle Act, a driver caught with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level within the warning range of 0.05 and 0.08 is subject to a short-term suspension of their license.

Previously, short-term license suspensions lasted seven days and were not recorded on a driving record.

Effective Nov. 1, short-term license suspensions will be recorded on a driving record. Penalties will escalate with each consequent offense:

first offense within the last five years: seven-day suspension;
a second offense within the last five years: 15-day suspension;
third or more offense within the last five years: 30-day suspension, an increased license reinstatement fee of $230, and participation in a drinking driver education course. The driver will also be eligible for the voluntary interlock program.
